A Disease is a condition of the living animal or plant body or of one of its parts that impairs normal functioning and is typically manifested by distinguishing signs and symptom. There are four main types of disease: infectious diseases, deficiency diseases, hereditary diseases (including both genetic diseases and non-genetic hereditary diseases) and physiological diseases.
The Kidneys are two bean-shaped organs that sit in the middle of your back. They play a vital role in keeping your body healthy. They filter blood and remove waste products and extra water in the urine. Kidneys also help control blood pressure.
Kidney Disease is Longstanding disease of the kidneys leading to renal failure. The kidneys filter waste and excess fluid from the blood. As kidneys fail, waste builds up. Symptoms develop slowly and aren't specific to the disease. Some people have no symptoms at all and are diagnosed by a lab test. Medications help manage symptoms. In later stages, filtering the blood with a machine (dialysis) or a transplant may be needed.
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) refers to all five stages of kidney damage, from very mild damage in stage 1 to complete kidney failure in stage 5. The stages of kidney disease are based on how well the kidneys can filter waste and extra fluid out of the blood. In the early stages of kidney disease, your kidneys are still able to filter out waste from your blood. In the later stages, your kidneys must work harder to get rid of waste and may stop working altogether.
